iconographic description:
two cows are lying in a landscape of breton moors bordered in the background by pine trees. Historical commentary:
henri rivière began his career as an engraver by producing, from 1882 to 1885, around twenty etchings. Then, he abandoned this technique in favor of what is his true vocation, color prints (wood and lithography). However, he returned to etching from 1906 to 1913 with around ten italian or pyrenean landscapes and around fifty breton landscapes, like the one presented here. Never published, these prints were printed by the artist himself, each in a small number of copies. Themes / subjects / places represented:
landscape, lande = scrubland, pine, cow, brittany
