Field post letters from hans koch, vienna, world war ii, eastern front, 1922-1945 previous letter (1944-05-06) letter no. 245 (1944-05-06) next letter (1944-05-10) envelope: front back letter: card - front card - back text [as you have probably already seen, i am in halberstadt again]. It's another short business trip. It usually only takes ten minutes, then i have the whole day to myself. I make life as easy as possible for myself and have a great time. My health is also, without any warning, impeccable. I left berlin yesterday at 2:20 p. M. I'm driving back this afternoon. The weather has been very unpleasant the whole time, wet and cold. Today it seems to be getting better again. From thursday to friday we had a night march, covering 30 km. On wednesday evening we had a meeting with old comrades from outside the company. A lieutenant, oberfld. Bosse and also heinz gruschka, as he knows from beuthen. It was very nice but unfortunately also difficult because heinz is being sent back to the east. It was very hard for us to part. God grant that he and all of us stay healthy. The air raids have eased off a bit. Now and then there is an alarm, mostly [during the day]. Date: 6 May 1944.
