Seven studies of 'Orlando'-class armoured cruisers and torpedo boats RMG PV0064, William Lionel Wyllie, probably 1890s
Seven studies of 'orlando'-class armoured cruisers and torpedo boats
the larger twin-funnelled vessels are 'orlando'-class armoured cruisers. There were seven vessels in the class, all launched in 1886 or 1887, and they were all sold for scrap between 1905 and 1907. The smaller two-funnelled vessel looks like a paddle tug. The other sketches show first- and second-class torpedo boats of the 1880s. Date: probably 1890s. Dimensions: 113 mm x 178 mm. Collection: Fine art.
