Dressed in brocade, the duchess wears an opulent pearl ensemble with a fine lace medici collar around her neck. She gazes back at the viewer with a dignified, bland expression. Restored but can easily be improved by cleaning. In a contemporary ebonised and gilt wooden frame with an undulating stucco border and painted ornamental elements. The frame with minor worm damage, small to medium-sized knocks and flaws. Size of the picture 55 x 41 cm, framed 73. 5 x 62 cm. Justus sustermans (1597 - 1681) was a flemish baroque painter. As court painter to the medici, he became one of the most respected artists of his time.
