Description: identification on verso (typewritten): william j. Glackens (1870-1938). Starting as an illustrator for newspapers and magazines, glackens found in his immediate world subjects for his painting. As a member of "the eight", he was much admired by his contemporaries for his powers of observation and his draughtsmanship.
