Portrait of maurice of nassau, prince of orange, whole-length, wearing armour and holding a baton and shield with coat of arms; at right is a plinth with a plumed helmet and gauntlet and decorated with an emblem of a rampant lion in a ring fence; in the distance is a scene of the preparations for the assault of philippine and the battle of nieuwpoort (1600), massed ranks of soldiers and moored war ships; oval design with military trophies at the corners.
