Paris Opera -1822, 1821

Architectural drawings (plate 20 from donnet's and orgiazzi's 1821 book architectonographie des théâtres de paris) showing the old paris opera, which at the time was called the académie royale de musique (also the salle le peletier, since it was on the rue le peletier). The drawings include a general site plan, a floor plan, and an interior perspective view of the stage. The theatre was built in 1821 to the designs of the french architect françois debret on the site of the former garden of the hôtel de choiseul. The existing buildings of the hôtel were joined with the opera house and were used for backstage facilities and administration. For the french text describing this plate see pp. 271–298 in the text volume of donnet's book (at google books). Date: 1821.
