Knud den Sjettes segl, Magnus Petersen, circa 1882

Seal of king canute vi of denmark, the earliest known example of the coat of arms of denmark. The original insignia dated from c. 1190 and the title indicated on the seal was assumed by the king c. 1187-1193. The only known copy of this seal was discovered in the grand ducal archive in schwerin, germany in 1879. Date: circa 1882.
