interior of the saint-sulpice church. Large semi-circular arcades, framed by fluted corinthian pilasters, punctuate the interior of the church built in the 17th and 18th centuries. The pillars of the choir are backed by statues of apostles, sculpted by bouchardon. The balustrade closing the entrance to the choir is a testimony to oppenord's decoration. We can see the pulpit, on the right, designed in 1789 by quatremère de quincy and, in the back of the apse chapel, the virgin carrying the child jesus, by pigalle. The blue of the stained glass windows corresponds to the long exposure time which causes solarization. The chandelier cords are slightly blurry due to the long exposure time. Seen probably taken during the marriage of stanislas ratel to marie-ange-zoé choiselat, celebrated on 26/8/1850 in this church. Historical commentary:
interior views are extremely rare for daguerreotypes because this technique required very high light. The blue color of the stained glass windows is due to a solarization effect. This effect was considered at the time to be a technical defect although here it adds an aesthetic note. It was in this church that the engineer ratel married the sister of the chemist charles choiselat, marie ange zoé choiselat, on october 26, 1850. The family made the correction. But it is perhaps a photographic feat carried out between 1843 and 1845 dates which correspond to the time when choiselat and ratel produced their most beautiful daguerreotypes.
