Mock execution of Cornelis van der Burgh at Leeuwarden 1789, Jacobus Buys, 1799

Cornelis van der burgh, ex-burgomaster of bolsward, had to endure a mock execution on 16 may 1789 in leeuwarden before being exiled for 20 years. Van der burgh was one of five patriot leaders who were sentenced to death in the aftermath of the orangist restoration of 1787. Date: 1799.
