It represents the battle of el puig de santa maria (1237) during the reconquest of valència, with the king of catalonia and aragon, james i of aragon, the conqueror (dressed in the 4 stripes of the crown of aragon), conquering el puig from the muslim troops, and saint george (wearing the saint george cross on his chest) miraculously interceding as a warrior, appearing just behind him. It seems james i was not present actually present at the battle, which was led by bernat guillem d’entença and guillem d’aguiló. Date: between circa 1410 and circa 1420.
