Field post letters from hans koch, vienna, world war ii, eastern front, 1922-1945 previous letter (1943-12-04) letter no. 209 (1943-12-06) next letter (1943-12-09) [on november 30th a few men from each] company were allowed to go into the village to warm up. The doctor was there and saw my legs. He sent me straight to the main congregation station. From there we went by car to starje bichoff [???] and from there by train to rogatschew [rogatschow]. We drove the 600 km in 2 full days! from rogatsch we went by bus to bobruisk. And now my rocking bed is taking me - who knows where?! there's no need to worry about my legs. It's nothing serious. I feel better than i rarely do! it's a shame about the lovely christmas mail, but that doesn't matter, the main thing is that i am now [safe]. Date: 6 December 1943.
