Field post letters from hans koch, vienna, world war ii, eastern front, 1922-1945 previous letter (1941-11-02) letter no. 40 (1941-11-06) next letter (1941-11-10) russia, 6 november 1941 dear parents! i would like to start by sending you my warmest greetings and kisses. You will no doubt be surprised that i have not written for so long, but unfortunately there was no other way. We advanced as far as tula, where the terrain was very poor, and the rainy season had just set in. This made it impossible to send mail. Not even food arrived; we had been fed by plane recently. I have not heard from you since the end of september, although i know for sure that you write to me a lot. Well, now it is freezing again, the roads are getting better, so there will probably be [mail] soon. Date: 6 November 1941.
