This is a painting by the german artist jacob philipp hackert, "the battle of patras". The painting was painted specifically for the chesme hall of the grand peterhof palace in 1778. The painting depicts the events of the naval battle at patras on november 9, 1772. In the center of the painting are 5 ships of the russian squadron with billowing sails, on the right is the battleship "graf orlov". In the background behind the russian ships is the glow of a fire - the burning fleet of mustafa pasha. At the left edge of the painting are several small turkish ships rushing into the gulf of corinth, russian boats are sailing towards them. The painting decorates the chesme hall of the grand peterhof palace. Date: 1778.
