The canvas represents the entry of roger de flor into constantinople together with the great catalan company, made up of eight thousand catalan and aragonese almogávars in 1303, in aid of the byzantine emperor andronikos ii palaiologos, who was fighting against the ottoman empire. Emperor andronikos ii palaiologos appears seated on the throne and next to him sits his son, michael ix palaiologos, who was co-emperor of the byzantine empire along with his father. Date: 1888.
