"in this horizontally oriented, oversized (dai-ōban) woodblock print, a dutchman escorts the procession of a male and female camel handled by two arabian attendants in handsomely patterned clothes. At the upper left is the dutch word “kameel,” and the term is defined in japanese to the left. At the upper right is a detailed account of the physical attributes of the animals with the heading, “camels brought over by the dutch. ”" japan; woodblock print; prints. Date: circa 1821.
