"coco water" is a refreshing beverage made of licorice sticks macerated in lemon water. [1] this drink began to be sold on the streets of paris at the end of the 18th century. The coco water merchant, wearing a white apron, carried a painted sheet metal fountain[2] on his back and a few cups on his belt. It was a small profession in france and belgium, particularly in paris and brussels. It disappeared near the beginning of the 20th century.
