Iconographic description:
it is a parody of the resurrection of jesus christ. The count of argout, clutching a pair of scissors, emerges from a box appearing to miraculously fly, like someone resurrected. It is about censorship, resurrected, in the guise of d’argout. On the right, the personification of two period newspapers victims of censorship (le figaro armed with his pen and la tribune) which try to prevent it, and on the left le courrier seéveil and la révolution frowning. Just like the soldiers responsible for guarding the tomb of christ, represented asleep, here there are characters to the left of the tomb, represented as a box (a "ministerial box" in explanation): these are the incarnations of the pro-government newspapers (le messager, le constitutionnel, asleep in an armchair and holding purses of money against him, and le moniteur), asleep. In the background on the left, in front of the boulevards theaters, old women embodying the legitimist press. Person / character represented:
argout, antoine maurice apollinaire d', baron
