Artist vasily vereshchagin in a sleigh in front of a house in nizhnie kotly, moscow district. Photo from the early 1900s. // it has been well documented that the house was built in 1889 according to the design of architect n. V. Nikitin (1828-1913). Soon after vereshchagin's death, his widow sold the house to the manufacturer weber, who tore down the recently built house to expand his own factory [1]. The exact location of the house is unknown - and, as follows from vereshchagin's letters, it is not the lowland near modern nizhnie kotly, but a high place from which the kremlin was clearly visible - probably on the nagatinsky hills. Date: 1900.
