An Admiralty 'M'-class destroyer lying at a mooring RMG PV0036, William Lionel Wyllie, 1915

An admiralty 'm'-class destroyer lying at a mooring this three-funnelled destroyer is dateable to 1915-18: the location is unidentifiable. If the dark band above the ship is intended to represent a coatline, its moor-like tonality , suggests scottish waters such as scapa flow, but if just a dark sky it could be in southern english waters on an equivalent gloomy day. [btodd/pvdm 1/13]. Date: 1915. Dimensions: 253 mm x 355 mm. Collection: Fine art.
