Schooners Emerald & Amorita, 19 June 1897

John rogers maxwell's schooner emerald (henry c. Wintringham design, built in 1893 at the samuel l moore sons shipyard, elizabethport) and william gould brokaw's schooner amorita (archibald cary smith design, built in 1895 at the harlan & hollingsworth shipyard, wilminton). They are pictured racing for the larchmont yacht club's spring regatta, which was narrowly won by the emerald over the colonia and the amorita new york times - emerald wins the race.
