Advertisement showing the skating park surrounded by the "sharp & thomson foundry" complex in south philadelphia. Several men, women, and children, in winter attire, skate as couples while others lay fallen, including two men after a collision and another face down. Also shows a small group convened around a man, possibly for instruction, in the background. Other skaters prepare in a covered booth of bleachers and walk on the raised triangular platform leading to the ice. Guard railed planks provide access to the rink. Carriages arrive and depart from the grounds. Many of the women hold muffs. Sharp & thomson primarily manufactured stoves in addition to tinned and enameled hollow-ware.
