Pyotr semyonovich vannovsky (1822–1904) was the russian minister of war in 1881–1898 and minister of public education in 1901–1902. He was a general of infantry from 1883. He was a colleague of pavel fedotov in 1840–1846. The portrait depicts him in the uniform of a staff captain of the finnish life guards regiment with the order of st. Anna, 3rd degree. Date: 1849.
