December 41. Dearest parents! i have finally received mail after a long time. You can imagine how happy i was. And then the big package! you have gone to great lengths again. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. The fountain pen, the ink, the suspenders, can opener and little knife are all really great! you have already sent packages to my troops. You ask if i am in pain. Thank god i am not any more. Nothing else has happened to me! i still have to lie in bed [and take a lot of medicine. ]. Date: 30 December 1941.
