The Diana of Marstal, Denmark., Reuben Chappell, between 1902 and 1917

The three-masted schooner diana (callsign nltb) was built by jens koefoed of faxe ladeplads in 1902. She was owned by a partnership in marstal, led by carl wilhelm clausen. Her master until 1917 was r. E. Hansen. In april 1917 she was attacked in the atlantic by a german submarine. The charges placed aboard her failed to sink her, and the wreck was later found and towed to queenstown. Repaired and sold to hans nielsen of rudkøbing, denmark. Sold to oscar lamberg, viken, sweden in 1923. Foundered on november 24, 1933 at bränningsgrundet in löfstabukten while heading for gotland. Source: jmarcussen. Dk (in danish). Object Type: painting.
