On the right there is a crucifix with a rifle hanging on it. There is a tombstone in the floor. In the middle, a woman in a black dress with loose, long hair (polonia) kneels, stretching her hands over an anvil to be put in chains. Behind the anvil stands a blacksmith. Behind polonia, a soldier takes a woman in a white dress away from her. On the left side stand two russian generals, and at their feet lies the bloody corpse of a woman. Soldiers drinking in the background. On the right, a group of exiles - among them a monk, a man in a white shirt clenching his fist, and a woman with a child. The painting is sketchy, unfinished.
