Etruscan artists imitated greek black-figure ware during the later 6th through the mid-5th centuries bc. On this amphora (two-handled storage vessel), running satyrs gesture wildly beneath a procession of birds. The vivid animation of the figures is typical of etruscan art, and their dance-like poses and proportions are probably inspired by the wall-paintings of contemporary etruscan tombs.
