Above all, i would like to say a big thank you for the packages. I had 13 100 gram packages in the last post! we were naturally very happy and then it was time to nibble! it tasted wonderful, but why did you send sausages again? you need the few meat stamps for yourself. Your airmail letter dated april 23rd arrived the day before yesterday. Thank you very much for the easter greetings. Did mine reach you in time? - you asked how we got into our bunker because of all the water. Yes, the trenches were dammed and the water drained off. Now, as you already know, i'm no longer at the front, but everything has dried out. I had to laugh when you wrote that i'll soon have to be a senior rifleman too; after two years the soldier "gets promoted"! this is a big mistake. We have soldiers here who have served for 2, 3, 4 years and are still soldiers, senior riflemen or senior riflemen. If someone is transferred from one unit to another a lot, it's bad. We have lots of people who have served for 1 or 2 years longer than me and yet have not been promoted! i'm particularly pleased that you're getting some leave.
