I modi - Paris Position 1 - drawn by Jean Waldeck, Marcantonio Raimondi
"i modi" - "sonetti lussuriosi"
i modi was a book that contained engravings of sexual scenes. [1] the book was created around 1524 - 1527. The engravings were created by marcantonio raimondi[1] and based on paintings by giulio romano. Jean-frédéric waldeck came across a series of engravings of the "i modi" images[2] that contained either marcantonio's original engravings or a close copy. [2] it presently remains unknown as to what series of engravings that waldeck saw. [2]
this drawing in pen and ink has been copied from one of these engravings. [3][1][2] it was drawn by waldeck prior to 1853. [1]
waldeck also reproduced these engravings in a series of twenty brush drawings in the 19th century. [2][4][3][1]
this pen and ink drawing was not apart of this series of 20 brush drawings. [1]
