During the proclamation of the second empire on december 2, 1852, the town hall was decorated with the napoleonic numeral (the "n" surrounded by a laurel wreath) and the result of the national plebiscite of november 21 and 22, 1852: 7,824,189 votes cast for the restoration of imperial dignity in favor of louis-napoléon bonaparte.
