Field post letters from hans koch, vienna, world war ii, eastern front, 1922-1945 previous letter (1944-05-30) letter 251 (1944-06-02) next letter (1944-06-05) envelope: front back text [i wanted to write to you about this later but as the course is now coming to an end and] you are probably worried about what will happen next, i want to tell you now. So let's take things one at a time. About 2 weeks ago i got up in the morning and everything was fine, then we had lessons and i got pains in my abdomen. I lay down again and went to the doctor, who examined me and diagnosed a hernia! imagine, at 22, it is surely a after-effect of being trafficked in russia. He sent me to quedlingburg, and i wrote to you from there, to see a specialist. The doctor said i needed an operation. Since i am here until june 10th, i asked if i could be operated on after the 10th. He agreed and so i will be admitted to the hospital in quedlinburg on june 12th. You don't need to be frightened, i have now. Date: 2 June 1944.
