The volume also includes a small miniature representing the arms of anne of brittany supported by a kneeling angel and a lion and surmounted by a double crown (folio 1v), and ten large full-page miniatures representing the main stages of the funeral procession: the queen on a parade bed in blois (folio 12r), the burial (folio 14r), the funeral prayers (folio 16v), the signs appearing in heaven above the town of suze at the time of death (folio 19r), the ardent chapel in the saint-sauveur church in blois (folio 26r), the transport of the body in paris (folio 42r), the ardent chapel in the notre-dame cathedral in paris (folio 44r), the ardent chapel in the basilica of saint-denis (folio 46v), the exhibition of the queen's heart in the carmelite church of nantes (folio 57r) and the representation of the gold box containing the heart of the queen (folio 61r). Historical commentary: this manuscript contains the official report of the death, on january 9, 1514, of queen anne of brittany and of her funeral, the following february 15, written on the orders of louis xii by the herald of arms of the queen, pierre choque dit bretagne. Several copies, of which around twenty have survived, were made to be offered to the princes of the blood and the parents of the late queen. Unlike the others, this copy is not autographed. The binding could have been made for king henry iv or a member of his entourage. By the heraldic marks which do not designate an owner but queen anne of brittany whose funeral the volume relates, it is one of the first known examples of binding in relation to the covered text.
