iconographic description:
scenes from the private and public lives of animals: "good evening, dear reader; go home, keep your cage tightly closed, sleep well, have good dreams, and see you tomorrow!". Caricature. Vignette, personal at the door of a building decorated with a collection of insects (beetles, spiders) and bats, a barometer where we read: "private and public life of / animals. " and “parii grandville. ”. Two ominous animals: a black cat and an owl. Historical commentary:
this print must have served as a model for the advertising poster for scenes from the private and public life of animals. We find a lithographed poster with exactly the same composition which proposed subscription to the work (annie renonciat, j. J. Grandville, paris, 1985, p. 205). It seems that the drawings in the first volume date from 1841 and those in the second from 1842 (see exhibition catalog "grandville original drawings", 1986-1987). Acquisition method: manual donation

date of acquisition: 01–05–1984
institution: carnavalet museum, history of paris
inventory number: g. 22195. Date: Vers 1837 — 1847.
