Previously considered a portrait of the historian and publicist prince mikhail mikhailovich shcherbatov (1733-1790). Having examined the costume and awards, art historians concluded that the portrait is not of shcherbatov, but of a major dignitary from the beginning of the reign of alexander i - possibly count n. P. Rumyantsev, s. P. Rumyantsev or m. V. Dmitriev-mamonov. The question of the identity of the depicted remains open. Date: 1800s.
