historical commentary:
built on a former 14th century hotel, this building was remodeled from 1657 to 1660 by the architect pierre cottard and equipped with a new entrance on rue vieille-du-temple. In 1778, caron de beaumarchais, tenant until 1888, wrote "the marriage of figaro". Classified as a historic monument, this private property now houses the paul-louis weiller foundation.
