A view of the remnants of the saint-charles bridge, as well as the back of the hospital known as the hôtel-dieu. In 1772 a large fire destroyed most of the hôtel-dieu and killed many of its patients in the eleven days that it burned. It wasn't until 1877 that the new building, shown here, was inaugurated.
