Max meckel's winning design for the neo-gothic redesign of frankfurt's römer. The (unfortunately poor quality) picture shows the original "three gables" design with which meckel, together with the well-known frankfurt painter peter becker, emerged as the winner of the competition that the city had announced for the redesign of the römer façade in october 1889. It is clear that this original design not only envisaged a complete change in the arrangement of the windows, but also intended to add significantly more design through facade painting, which was ultimately completely abandoned. Immediately after the competition, meckel was asked to submit a less elaborate version. Date: October 1889.
