Portrait of king alfonso xii of spain (1857-1885). The king is represented in full body and wearing the uniform of a captain general, accompanied by white pants and high black boots. And it also sports the golden fleece and the band and plaque of the order of charles iii. This work follows the type of official portrait in which the painter focuses not only on capturing the physical appearance of the character, but above all on surrounding him with those elements that symbolize his rank. The monarch was twenty years old when this work was made, although with the hairstyle he wears he appears even younger. Eduardo balaca presented this portrait at the national exhibition of fine arts of 1878, although without obtaining any reward. Object Type: painting. Date: 1877.
