Field post letters from hans koch, vienna, world war ii, eastern front, 1922-1945 previous letter (1944-09-19) letter no. 282 (1944-09-21) next letter (1944-09-28) blankenburg, 21. 9. 1944. My beloved mum! today i have to thank you in particular, first of all for the lovely letter with the one from my comrades, but above all for the stamps. But mom, what have you done again, so much at once! i know exactly how much you miss everything. I'm not starving here, so you don't need to be afraid. Today your lovely package and stationery arrived, thank you very much for that too. The biscuits are great, and i don't even need to mention the cigarettes. The stationery is very nice and was already necessary. The flower card in the package with the lovely tokens also brought me a lot of joy. It was sunday again, were the planes back? that's why my thoughts are often with you and i always hope that everything will go well. Things are better for us now, we haven't had an alarm for a while. But we don't want to jinx it. But as we've said many times before, you don't need to be afraid, everything is fine here. What happened with the ferris wheel, was it true? there are so many stories about it. Date: 21 September 1944.
