The népszínház opened its doors on october 15, 1875 in józsefváros, on today's blaha lujza square. It was a theater owned by a foundation and managed by the city. Its building was specially designed for this purpose with the viennese architect ferdinand fellner. It operated in this form until june 30, 1908. The building was then rented by the company of the national theater. Date: 1874.
