Conkling vs Trumbull, 23 March 1872

A sword fight between u. S. Senators roscoe conkling and lyman trumbull. Both are in scottish garb and brandishing swords labeled "investigation". It is a scene from shakespeare's macbeth with conkling as macduff and trumbull as macbeth. Macbeth says "lay on, macduff, and damn'd be him that first cries hold, enough. ". Date: 23 March 1872.
