interior scene. In a high room where there is a bed on the right, around twenty boys and girls are gathered. On the left, the schoolmaster, seated in an armchair behind his desk, a bundle of rods in his left hand, has a student recite his lesson. Other children write, standing, leaning against a long table made of a board placed on two trestles. On the right, little girls share fruit for their snack.
