A dog, a man, holding a bundle, and a woman, carrying a belly basket filled with asparagus and a bundle in one hand, walk near the milkmaid. A woman, holding a basket loaded with linens, and children appear behind the milkmaid. A soldier stands at the door of a stagecoach heavily loaded with passengers, spread out in and on top of the car. One of them has a dog. To the right of the milkmaid, a man seems to be pointing something to a national guard. A woman guiding a calf stands near them. Other national guards are present in front of a pedimented building.
