Field post letters from hans koch, vienna, world war ii, eastern front, 1922-1945 previous letter (1938-09-18) letter date (1938-10-02) next letter (1938-10-17) [what pleases us country servicemen most of all is that peace] is here and hopefully will stay. In the event of war we would probably have had to stay here. That would have been a shame. Now everything will soon be back to normal. Poor siegi must have had a lot of work to do. I hope i see him in vienna. I would be very pleased. - on sunday i bought myself a pair of work shoes for 9. 20 rm, they're really great. Mine were completely broken. They're ready to be thrown away. - now we only have 2 months or 8 weeks left, hopefully that will pass quickly. We're all looking forward to seeing each other again. I certainly won't forget my suitcase. I'll buy some later. Next time i'll finish my letter. Give my warmest regards to all my friends and relatives. Finally, i send you my warmest regards and kisses. With "heil hitler," yours, hans. Date: 2 October 1938.
