The "procession of düsseldorf artists" from 1837 takes the painting guild to the extreme. Bizarre figures pass by against a reddish background like in an ancient egyptian painting. In between them float freely invented symbols that recall the time of the pharaohs. Depicted are johann georg meyer, wilhelm joseph heine, achenbach (himself or his brother oswald), rudolf jordan (back only), johann wilhelm schirmer. Date: 1837.
