The picture illustrates a scene from the story "ali schar and sumurud"at the bazaar, the graceful sumurud is offered as a slave, but her master will only sell her to someone the girl chooses herself. She chooses ali, the son of a rich merchant from the land of khorasan, who takes her to his house. There they eat, drink and chat until ali falls asleep. The picture corresponds to the following passage on page 463f:"then she undressed herself and lay down next to ali and kneaded him until he awoke. Then he saw a maiden next to him like an ingot of pure silver, which was as soft as silk and as delicate as the tail of a fat sheep. And she was only five feet tall, her breasts were firm and full, her cheeks were red, her hips were full of fat folds, her navel held an ounce of oil and her thighs were like pillows stuffed with ostrich feathers.
