Lillian M. Genth (1876-1953) - The Bird Song (c1900-1915) custom colorized version, Lillian Genth, 1 January 1900

A nude woman in a forest is apparently fascinated by the sound of a bird singing. This is an attempt to restore colour to the image seen at file:lillian m. Genth (1876-1953) - the bird song (c1900-1915). Png, by combining the black and white image with a smaller colour image also posted by the library of congress. This is not intended to accurately represent the painting as it originally appeared in colour, but merely to give a general impression of how it might have looked. Following the adjustments made to the black and white image, the colour image was adjusted for colour balance and contrast, re-sized, superimposed on the black and white image as a 50% transparent layer, and its contrast was flattened leaving a colour wash superimposed on the black and whie image. This combined image was then saved as a single layer on which final colour and contrast adjustments were performed. The alignment between the two images was performed by hand and is therefore imprecise. Furthermore, the original colour image was quite grainy, resulting in a mottled look to the colours in the combined image. Date: 1 January 1900.
