Air Shaft, Wallsend by Thomas Harrison Hair

Air Shaft, Wallsend by Thomas Harrison Hair

Engraving by newcastle artist t. H. Hair (thomas harrison hair) from 'a series of views of the collieries in the counties of northumberland and durham by t. H. Hair', published by james madden and co (8, leadenhall street, london) and t. H. Hair (18, great camden street, camden town), 1844. Probably based on an original watercolour sketch made by hair at the site, it depicts the air shaft and overground infrastructure of wallsend colliery, circa 1834-1844.
