Miami Oil Works 1877 advert, Joseph Henry Gest

The miami oil works in cincinnati, ohio, owned by joseph john gest. The miami oil works, later the miami soap and oil works, was a large factory in downtown cincinnati, taking up most of the block between 5th street, 6th street, culvert street, and eggleston avenue. It was destroyed by fire on 20 june 1881, rebuilt, and destroyed by fire again on 27 february 1882; the company suffered massive losses and went out of business. Taken from an 1877 sales catalog of the company, digitized by the cincinnati public library. Date: 1877.
