Field post letters from hans koch, vienna, world war ii, eastern front, 1922-1945 previous letter (1944-01-01) letter no. 219 (1944-01-04) next letter (1944-01-12) envelope: front back text [but your letter of december 29th made me laugh especially because of your “mishap” with the ink. That must have looked great. Yes, that would have been fun if i’d been there with dad. Don’t worry about it any longer, when i get home i’ll look at the presents. Now you’re asking how i’m doing, i already wrote to you about that in my last letter. Unfortunately, i’m already doing too well. My comrades and i had to laugh when you wrote whether i go out with sticks or crutches. My dear mum, don’t worry, i’m not in pain and i walk like a “tailor”. I'm on tour in the city all day. There's nothing you can do to get me to a hospital in vienna, it's no longer worth it. There's no point in you visiting me either, because i'll probably be discharged in the next few days. Date: 4 January 1944.
